Enable the component video out at HD resolutions -- Jul 16 2008, 5:01 PM

To enable the component video out at HD resolutions I first had to right click on the desktop and select NVIDIA display.

Next I clicked on TV...

When you click on TV you will now be at the TV display properties screen.

Click on the section that says "Select a signal format supported by your TV."

You will now see a drop down list with all your possible choices. If you are running a 720p set then select that, in this case we have a 1080i set so I will select that from the list.

With 1080i selected the Video output format now changes from auto select to Component. Hit Ok to continue....

You now have a choice on how you want to display the image on screen. Select Native to leave it at the native resolution (in this case 1920x1080i), Over scan shift (which you do not want this one) and finally Under scan.

Under scan is the selection you will want to make to allow the entire image on screen to be displayed without it running off the screen. In my case I have selected 1768x992 which should fill my screen nicely. You can play with this to get the best results on your screen.

Once you have selected the under scan method select ok to allow the desktop to change over to the new HD resolution.

You will be prompted if this is now displaying correctly and if so hit ok and begin enjoying your new view!

Now obviously you will not be using such a high resolution all the time so what happens is when the resolution changes to something like 1024x768 it is put inside of a 1920x1080i timing with no effort at all! Previously you would have had to be accustom with PowerStrip to get such results. Now depending on your set you may still feel like a little tweaking is involved, and this is where a slight problem might come in. For some reason I could not make any changes at all in PowerStrip. It seems as if the NVIDIA drivers prevent any tampering to prevent improper timings from being input. Honestly though this is the first time in a long time I didn't feel like PowerStrip was needed though. Granted there was a few tiny details that bugged me but nothing that I felt obsessed with getting PowerStrip to work.
